This week, I’ve been working on finishing up projects that have been sitting in my WIP bin – that’s the Works in Progress bin, and it feels so good!
I finished and photographed an earwarmer crochet pattern I’ll have ready soon, and I am working on crocheting a wreath form cover that will resemble a Pumpkin – catch a peek on Instagram. I started it last August (2022), and had planned to have it on my door that Fall, but I got distracted by some other projects, like a scarf worked in the same stitch pattern, and then was feeling unmotivated when it came to working on the video so it has just been sitting on my desk just waiting to be assembled. Final step – sheesh!
I worked on the video up to what I have finished, and will assemble this week! Yay! Fall is going to come to my home early this year.
I updated an oldie but goodie scarf pattern to include a video tutorial. If you are a beginner, or want to learn how to crochet, or just want a really easy scarf pattern, I highly recommend checking out the Super Chunky Brett Haylee Scarf (free crochet pattern)!
I got tired of the open shelving we had for our shoes, and having to move it every time I set up to do photos so I popped over to Ikea to pick up the Bissa Shoe Cabinet. I went with the one that is black-brown and has 3 compartments, but there are other options. I love it! And I found some other goodies too! These plants will go onto the shelf in the Simple and Cozy Corner in my living room.
One night for dinner, I made Lasagna Pasta. This is my own recipe. I’ll be updating the photos, and bringing it over to On Rockwood Lane soon. It’s a quick and easy recipe that I simply love making, especially when I want a little something more than marinara sauce. This time I added half a can of diced tomatoes in with everything else, and served with garlic bread. Yummy!
In case you missed last week’s edition of The Rockwood Lane Weekly 26. Thank you to Maggie of Crochet Happens for helping out with the photo collage!
Check out her Etsy Shop for some great handmade items, like this super helpful and cute Plastic Bag Holder! I have a similar one in my kitchen, and I love that it not only nicely stores my bags, but it looks pretty too.
Let’s Get to Those Great Finds!
When I saw the image of these socks knitted by Ginny of Ginx Craft, I was immediately drawn to them as it looked like glitter, and I just love anything with glitter on it. She’s used a lovely recycled wool yarn.
If you’re interested in trying out some eco-friendly yarns, you may be interested in these: Upcycle Alpaca Worsted Weight, Upcycle Alpaca Sport Weight and Brava Recycled (limited time only) from WeCrochet, and Re-Spun from Lion Brand.
Absolutely gorgeous Watercolor Flowers in Pattern art piece from Sara of Creative Jewish Mom! I just love pieces like this. I am not much of a painter, but I would like to learn, especially to make pieces like this.
These mini art collages with crocheted flowers from Julie of Sum of their Stories are so sweet! I love all the little details within these art pieces.
As the flowers are blooming, it’s time to begin working in the gardens and yards again. I finally went out a couple days, and started pulling weeds, and replaced a Hibiscus. Carol of Scribbling Boomer has a great list of Gardening Must-Haves.
Don’t toss that empty chip can! Beth of Creatively Beth has a step by step tutorial to create this super cute Uncle Sam using one. I’m thinking if you had an empty jar from a pillar candle, you could use that as well.
Dress up your kitchen or bathroom with Patriotic Flour Sack Towels using this Cricut tutorial from Bevelry of Across the Blvd.
Not sure how to style your red pants? Throw on a white tank top or tee, and then a denim top or jacket just like Suzy of The Grey Brunette has done with this Red, White and Blue Outfit.
So many ways to vary this combination up too. Closed denim top, red pants, white shoes… red pants, white tee, denim headband or purse… jeans, red shirt, white shoes… jeans, white tee, red shoes… endless possibilities!
For you Memorial Day or 4th of July cook out, you’ll want to have some of these Patriotic Crochet Coasters (free crochet pattern) from T’Onna of Sew Crafty Crochet out on the table for guests.
White star, and black background would be fun for more of a galaxy vibe, or a white star and jute colored background for a Farmhouse Christmas.
Ornament wreaths are an excellent reason to shop the holiday section after Christmas! You can use ornaments to create a wreath for any holiday or season throughout the year. Lisa of Fresh Vintage by Lisa S has done a lovely job with this Shiny Brite Wreath, and I just LOVE the dishes she’s paired with it! The Staffordshire Liberty Blue pieces are the perfect touch to Patriotic decor.
The more neat DIYs that Lindsay of Artsy-Fartsy Mama shares that use the xTool Laser Machine, the more I want one! This is such a sweet Gift Card Holder that would be perfect any time of year for personalized gifts, especially from littles.
Cecilia of My Thrift Store Addiction has put together such a lovely combo here in her Vintage Summer Mantel!
The Honey Moon Bag (free crochet pattern) from Tamara of Moogly is perfect for Summer! Cheerful and stylish worked in a bulky yarn so should work up fairly quickly. I hadn’t heard of Suede-ish before seeing this bag, but now I’m tempted to try some!
Look how gorgeous Beverly of How Sweet the Sound’s rose garden is!! WOW! Come check it out at the Pink Saturday Link Up, see what other’s have shared, and link up your own posts (including Instagram and Ravelry [project pages not paid listings] ones if you don’t blog). If you aren’t familiar with link up parties, I’ll tell you all about them, and how you can join in on the fun!
I absolutely LOVE these free Vintage Style Bathroom printables from Andrea of The Cottage Market! There are 2 sizes to choose from, and 5 different backgrounds.
