WDORL 11: 5 Great Weekend DIYs!

May 3, 2021

5 great DIYs to do this weekend including how to make dog biscuits, how to make a stamped necklace, how to upcycle silverware into a wind chime, free arm warmers crochet pattern, and free towel turban sewing patterns.

May is a weird time for crafting, at least it is down here in the South where it’s already hitting high 80’s – low 90’s. Feels a bit like Summer, so I decided to pull finds from the top of my lists that would make great weekend projects.

It’s been nearly a month since our last Weekly Dose, I’ve been busy with several different projects including a new booth I got at America’s Antique Mall in Melbourne, Florida. Check out my April Visit!

April’s Waffle of the Month is an easy Cake Mix Waffle for 1.

For April’s Pinterest Challenge, I shared how to transform an ugly bookshelf with wrapping paper. If you are a blogger, and would like to join the Pinterest Challenge, I invite you join our Facebook group. If you aren’t a blogger, I invite you to join my DIY Home On Rockwood Lane Community group.

And our last Weekly Dose, which featured 5 Spring DIYs.

On my EyeLoveKnots blog, you’ll find:

  • Shay Collar – Free Crochet Pattern
  • Crochet an Apple for Teacher Appreciation – Crochet Pattern Review
  • Cozy Cabled Throw Pillow – Crochet Pattern Review
  • Lily’s Floral Mug Rug – Free Crochet Pattern
  • And more Spring finds at the Snickerdoodle Create Bake Make Link Party 383!

And if you like the layered floral necklace from Happy Hour Projects found below, you might also like these Spring DIYs I shared in the Weekly Dose 5.

Homemade Chicken and Wild Rice Dog Treats from A Cultivated Nest:

Yes, my tasty finds are usually for people, but I have had this recipe on my list for a while. Any dog lovers out there? This is an excellent, healthy option to store bought treats. I have a cat, and I don’t think he’d eat these, but perhaps I will bake some, and give to my dog loving friends.

Stamped and Riveted Floral Layer Necklace (Free Jewelry DIY) from Happy Hour Projects:

This necklace was made to match these earrings. I really like that the necklace goes a step further than just the same teardrop charm with the personalized riveted, stamped name charm. I can even see a birthstone charm (or several) hanging from one of the jump rings on the name banner.

DIY Silverware Wind Chime (Photo Tutorial) from Interior Frugalista:

This wind chime is a wonderful upcycle! It combines a sugar bowl, tea cup saucer or bread and butter plate and silverware. Great project for when you have chipped or scratched china you don’t know what to do with. Marie includes a photo tutorial showing the process, and even a video clip showing it swaying in the breeze.

Vintage Style Arm Warmers with Thumbholes (Free Crochet Pattern) from Whistle & Ivy:

This crochet pattern is a remake of her original Vintage-Inspired Armwarmers which is simply that – arm warmers. This redesign includes includes to make them with armholes so they will be more secure, and cover more of your hands. Either way, gorgeous design – I love the feminine shell edge, not to mention those buttons!

Girls Stay in Place Turban Towel (Free Sewing Pattern & Photo Tutorial) from Scattered Thoughts of a Crafty Mom:

This turban towel is such a handy make! It’s available in girls sizes, and especially perfect when it’s cold out. I kind of like the idea of this in a gift basket with other similar items for a girls birthday.

Welcome!

Welcome!

Hey! I'm Alexandra, the blogger and creator behind On Rockwood Lane and EyeLoveKnots! My passion is being creative. My favorite thing to do is crochet, and you will almost always find me having a cup of coffee and working on a new crochet project, but when I'm not doing that, you might find me out at a local park rollerblading, baking some fresh cookies, picking veggies in the garden or re-decorating for a new season or holiday. My two cats are great supervisors for all my adventures (minus the being outside because they think it's too hot in Florida to be anywhere but inside), and make sure I take plenty of breaks.

Kanagawa Wave Noodle Bowl (Aff Link)

I've been shopping for a noodle bowl with chopstick holder for my niece. I really like this design.

Black OUGES Top (aff link)

Black OUGES Top (aff link)

When I received this black Ouges brand top in my September Amazon Wardrobe box, I was pretty happy. I have a similar top that I received in an earlier box that is the same brand, and I love the fit of it. I think the raglan style gives me a sort of confidence. I am a 42″ bust wearing the size Medium. There are several other colors available too!

Crocheted Lip Balm Keychain (aff link)

Crocheted Lip Balm Keychain (aff link)

It's lip balm season, and these lip balm holders are excellent! They come on a swivel hook that can be attached anywhere for easy access, and to make sure you don't lost your lip balm at the bottom of your bag. I personally have one of these. The quality is great, and Candace is lovely to work with! PLUS they come in 11 colors!
