Wow! Where has the last month gone?
I have been working to update some older crochet posts in my Colin Drew series {which features corner to corner projects worked in double crochet boxes} with more sizes and video tutorials for Hand Towel (now in 3 sizes), Coasters (shown above), Super Chunky Afghan (now in 12 sizes), Washcloths (now in 6 sizes) and Chunky Afghan (now in 12 sizes).
And this Colin Drew Scarf is what sparked the updates! I just love this gray colorway especially paired with this textured stitch pattern!
I finally shared this cozy Cabot Wreath. I have talked about this one several times as it’s been in progress since last August, but I am beyond thrilled to have it hanging on my door!
And, I also shared this Super Chunky Twisted Taryn Earwarmer, worked in the Tunisian Simple Stitch pattern. It’s super chunky, cute and so cozy. I can’t wait til the temperatures cool, and I can start wearing this out! Earwarmers are one of my favorite accessories.
And if you like the Boss Lady mug, I have 3 listed in my eBay shop! I kept one for myself. They’re nice, big mugs so they hold more, hehe!
I’ve also added a few of these awesome Textured Glass Apple Bowls that are from the 1970s to the shop. These fun apple bowls are perfect for candy and nuts, ice cream, and trinkets!
I love them for a farmhouse themed home or for Back to School and Fall decorating. I have 4 others that I kept for myself (because I dropped something on them, and chipped them, oops! Happy accident.) that I’ll be using to decorate with this Fall season.
If you’re interested in either of them, or any other items in my shop, I do accept Best Offer, so feel free to send me an offer, and mention you’ve popped over from this post.
In case you missed last week’s edition of The Rockwood Lane Weekly 35. Thank you to Maggie of Crochet Happens for helping out with the photo collage!
Check out her Etsy Shop for some great handmade items, like this cozy earwarmer available in several beautiful colors!

Let’s Get to Those Great Finds!
There are 20 fun crochet patterns included in Happy Holidays in Crochet, from Annie’s Catalog, to take you from Spring and Easter through Christmas. Hard to pick a favorite, but I really like the black cat gnome and Frankenstein towel holder (I recognize from A Crocheted Simplicity).
I’m sure you can tell that the Barbiecore trend is in full swing. Are you having fun with this theme? It can be in a wide variety of ways – decor, baking and wardrobe for example. Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style shows us How to Dress following the Barbiecore Trend.
Emily of Crochet Aweigh has shared a crochet pattern review for The Larrea Dress.
She says, “The Larrea is a perfectionist’s dream! Available in crop top, peplum, mini, or maxi dress. This is an addictive pattern you can’t put down!”
I was just telling my mom the other day that I feel bad putting some items into the recycling bin because I know they can be repurposed in so many ways, but I’ve been trying to tell myself if I don’t have an idea for it right now, I can’t hold onto it – I’m already short on space! But I love this collection of 10 everyday items that make great vases that Julie of Sum of their Stories shared!
The Amethyst Shawl (Free Crochet Pattern) from The Purple Poncho is perfect for the transition from cool Summer nights into Fall. It’s worked in a lightweight, cotton blend, which would also work nicely tied around the waist over a bathing suit. Starting with just 1 cluster at the top point, each row increases the width so you can stop at any time when you reach the size you like. This method is also great when you’re working with a limited amount of yarn.
Mica of Away from the Blue has shared two ways to wear pink and blazers for the office. These would also be great teacher outfits!
September 1st kicks off sweater season for many! If you knit, you’ll want to add a Cloud Cardigan, using the paid knitting pattern from KnittingwChopsticks via Etsy, to your wardrobe!
Cake Plates are not just for cake! Just look at this beautiful Summer floral decor idea from Debra of Common Ground. With a neutral base, it would be so easy to use this idea throughout the year simply by changing up the flowers inside so they’re more seasonally appropriate.
This adorable Dog Dream Sweater (paid knitting pattern) from Maytina Shank via Ravelry is perfect for Fall, though worked with green leaves, it would also be perfect for Spring!
Julie of My Wee Abode has shared a beautiful set of Fall Floral Watercolor printables – you can download them for free, 1 or all 3. I love the colors and shapes of the vases!
Olena of Golden Lucy Crafts designed this 12″ Ocean Foam Square for the 2023 Moogly CAL. I like the ring of puff stitches there in the center, and that it starts with a circle. You can make the other squares as part of the CAL or several of these to create an afghan, or use it as the base for several other projects, like a tote bag or throw pillow to name a couple.
Laura of I do deClaire shares with us 36 ways to wear a leather moto jacket! Must get myself one of these jackets this year.
Thrilled to have my Bacon Burger Mac and Cheese Skillet featured at To Grandma’s House We Go Link Party hosted by Grandma’s House DIY, as well as our Kitten Keychain from EyeLoveKnots! You may be asking what a link party is – let me tell you, and share my weekly list too!
Laura of I do deClaire shares with us 6 ways to style Khaki pants for the Fall, and I love this way with white. You can find joggers like this in a variety of colors, and style them in similar ways too!
Jess of Nice and Knotty shared a crochet pattern review for the Easy and Feminine Scrunchie. She says, “This scrunchie was so fast and easy to make! The pattern is well written, and it even includes a link to the video for it. I want to make a bunch in all kinds of colors! I think they would make great little gifts (or stocking stuffers for the upcoming Christmas season!) or even a way to customize matching your hairpieces to an outfit. Scrunchies have definitely made a comeback so don’t fight it and whip up a few of these yourself!”
I feel like I don’t often see tropical prints in black and white, but it’s so refreshing! And on this dress that Jess of Elegantly Dressed and Stylish is wearing, it really allows it to be great for Spring through Fall simply by changing the colors and accessories that go with it.
Candace of T&C Crafters shared a crochet pattern review for Ollie the Mini Octopus. She says, “The Ollie the Mini Octopus pattern works up super quickly and makes an adorable little, squishy octopus. Made in super chunky yarn, it makes a great little toy or pocket pal, but it can also double as a perfect keychain in any weight yarn. I have a feeling these little guys are going to be a huge hit at my next market, so if you need me in the next week or two, I’ll be making more mini octopi!”
There is a new link party that I’ll be adding to my weekly list – the Crazylittlelovebirds Link Party, hosted by Stephanie of Crazylittlelovebirds.
Fairy gardens are one of those things that just warms my heart, in all fashions, so I was really happy to see this adorable DIY Fairy Garden House in a Mug from Donna of Modern on Monticello.
If you have a collection of burnt out lightbulbs, this DIY Halloween Garland from Mixed Kreations is a great way to repurpose them! I love the paint speckles. So cute!
Carrie of Mountain Momma Crochet shared a crochet pattern review for the Wild Oleander Hooded Scarf. She says, “Show your school spirit or create a cozy fall make with this easy to follow pattern by Wickedly Handmade. Using worsted or DK yarn, this hooded scarf can be worked up fairly easily and in a matter of a few evenings. A must have for any fall wardrobe!”
Love this Fall outfit from Mica of Away from the Blue with the fun pop of color in the cardigan.
Anna of AnnaDcrochet shared a free crochet pattern for this adorable Cheeky Monkey. She says, “The idea for crocheting this monkey came to my mind when I decided to surprise my daughter with a one-of-a-kind gift. This fun amigurumi monkey toy is worked in simple single crochets, and there is a video tutorial as well.”
These Woven Paper Cards from Julie of Sum of their Stories are so fun! I love the look, and so perfect for scraps. Julie also shares with us several ways to create a card using this technique.
The pink on this side table upcycle from The House on Silverado is so cute! I have a table that looks just like the before so I can really picture doing this myself.
I love the shaping and colors of these origami apples from Sara of Creative Jewish Mom! She has made them to celebrate Rosh HaShana, but they would also be great for decorating for Fall, Back to School, Thanksgiving, a classroom, a nursery or Farmhouse.
