How to wear a fun, bird print t-shirt with acid wash jeans and white sandals. Perfect outfit for Spring!

Shelbee on the Edge and Nancy’s Fashion Style host a fun monthly challenge called Good Buy/Good-Bye, where participants share a photo with a short description explaining if the item was a Good Buy or one that you will be saying Good-Bye to, and this month’s theme is Birds and Feathers.
I missed the original announcement, but after I saw the reminder from Shelbee, I immediately thought about this bird shirt I had in my closet.
I spent some time a few years back working at a local bird store. I made great friends with one of the guys that also worked there. As bird enthusiasts, we would go to the bird expo that came to Central Florida a few times a year, and I bought this shirt from SheIn back in March of 2019 to wear to the next one that came in April.
I will say, I did wear it, and I received lots of compliments, but I did not love the fit. It has a very boxy shape to it, and I’ve never been a fan of this style, or anything oversized. I was 160 pounds.

Fast-forward, this top has been sitting in my closet ever since! I decided to pull it out for this challenge to see if it fit. With my weight gain (20+ pounds) and knowing the top didn’t have much stretch, I was so confident the shirt wouldn’t fit, and I’d be saying Good-Bye, but when I put it on, it actually fit really well! And I like the fit so much better now than when I originally received it. I am a 42″ bust wearing the size Medium, and my only complaint is that the armholes are tight, but not uncomfortable tight. I also like that it’s not tight on my stomach so it hides a bit there.

I decided to pair this top with some acid wash VIP Jeans pants. I got these pants from DDs Discount a couple years back. I had had my eye on acid wash jeans so I was really happy when I found these. They have belt loops, but also have a drawstring. Though the drawstring doesn’t work as well as a belt, I do like the look of it tied in a bow.

These pants are very comfortable and easy to style, but I wish there was some compression in the belly area. In my Black OUGES Top & Red Pants post you will see how they actually fit (same pants), but for this bird outfit, I pulled out my Flex brand shaping panties (from Ross) that have been tucked away for years, and it actually made a real difference – I never really feel shapewear does much for me, but they had just the compression I needed to feel more comfortable and confident, and not worried about my belly pouch sticking out. My waist is 35″ and my hips are 44.5″, and I’m wearing a size 13 (junior sizing).
My slingback sandals are also from SheIn. They are sold out, but I think these have the same kind of sole on them, which is really comfortable!

Good buys all around.

This is a really cute outfit! I love your bird print top and the side pockets on your pants!
Alexandra, I love this whole look! The bird tee is so cute and I really like the jogger style denim. I love when I pull out something that didn’t fit well before but then it fits well now! It’s like getting a brand new piece of clothing without spending any money! You tee will be featured on Nancy’s blog tomorrow and I put your bird feeders!
