Thanks a Melon Gift in a Jar

July 20, 2021

How to make a Thanks a Melon gift in a jar.

Welcome to the July Pinterest Challenge! The purpose of this Pinterest Challenge is to motivate us to not just pin, but to make it happen!

This month’s challenge is Tutti Fruit – fruit themed fun.

For this challenge, I knew I wanted to do something that had to do with watermelon. I found this Watermelon Thank You Tag – which the link goes to the site, but it’s a 404 page. I thought the “Thanks a Melon” message was so cute – it was perfect!

You can find more Summer ideas in my Seasonal: Summer Time board.

This gift is great as a favor for a Summer party, or to give to teacher at the end of the school year. Use it for a birthday or Father’s Day gift by simply changing the message – how about “You’re One in a Melon”?

Materials:

  • Candy Jar – I found mine at Dollar Tree
  • Fruit Themed Stickers – I found mine on clearance at Michaels
  • Tags – I get mine either from Michaels or Hobby Lobby
  • Jute – I found mine at Dollar Tree
  • Fruit Themed Candy – I found a few different Watermelon flavored candies at Dollar Tree
  • Markers – mine are actually hand lettering markers that have a pen on one side

Time Spent:

5 – 10 Minutes

Let’s DIY This Tag:

I started with some fruit themed stickers, and white tags.

I stuck on my sticker, and then used my markers to hand write the “Thanks a Melon” message. I intentionally left the space at bottom so later it could be signed.

I cut the jute, and tied it around the lip of the candy jar, then strung the tag on, and tied it in a bow.

I filled my jar with Watermelon gum balls. One bag fit this little jar perfectly. I have some other watermelon candies to make more jars with.

That is just the cutest tag ever! I have made thank you cards with this sentiment before but such a fun idea for a little thank you gift. Pinned.

Thanks, Joanne! Cards are a fun idea. I haven’t made cards in at least 7 years. I would like to get back into it this coming year.

That tag is completely adorable. I can totally see this on a pack of fruit stripe gum.

I’ve always liked handmade gift tags as opposed to store-bought. You can get so much more creative like you have. Great idea for using those fruit stickers!

You are so right! I used to do them more often, and kind of got out of the habit, but I am looking forward to getting back into tag and card making this coming year.
