Crocheted Summer tee outfit with blue jeans and wedges

In March, a friend of mine released a brand new crochet book of easy to make garments. I was lucky to receive a copy of the book to do some reviews, and number one on my list was this beautiful Vanessa Tee.

What first caught my eye was the lacy, filet design. As I looked further into it, I really liked the idea of trying out 24/7 Cotton Yarn, and working myself up a new Summer top. Here in Florida, it’s pretty much Summer all year, so I’ll get a lot more use out of a cotton top, than wool. I also really liked the simple t-shirt shape. I left longer than usual armholes, and I think it really helped the tee drape better.

With all the holes from the filet pattern, I put a basic one size fits most black under shirt under the tee – my favorite ones are from Ross. They come in all kinds of colors, are around $3, and even give a slimming effect.

I’m rocking my high waisted blue jeans from Wal-Mart that are NoBo brand. These are really great quality jeans. They have outlasted my Old Navy Rockstars, and are really comfortable. My only issue with them is compression – they have none in the front so if you’re like me and have a little belly on you, it is noticeable in person (though you can’t really tell in these photos). I am 5’6″ and 193 pounds wearing the size 13.

I tried black wedges at first, thinking I would take the same color from the tank top, but it just didn’t look as great as these brown wedges. Blue jeans and brown shoes really are a great pair together. I forget the brand of these wedges, but they were a $20 Ross find.

If you are interested, check out my crochet pattern review over on my sister blog, EyeLoveKnots. I found the pattern pattern was very easy to follow. Worked in simple double crochet stitches and basic shaping, this top is suitable for a confident beginner, and even better, it’s reversible!

This is really cute and def. breathable even for Florida I am sure! The back surprised me and it is so cute! You could def. layer some cute tanks or camis underneath in neon colors for the summer!

Oh yes – the yarn I used is so nice to wear in Florida. I like the idea of neon colored tops! I will need to do some shopping.
What a beautiful knit! The back of the tee is fabulous!

Thanks so much!
It’s so cute! I love your platform sandals with it!
Thank you! I love all your outfits with the wedges, so when I saw these at Ross, I swooped them up in brown and black. Completely inspired by you – you’re awesome!
This is such a cute tee – I like the cut out design on the front, and it works so well with your jeans 🙂
Thanks so much for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup 🙂 Hope you’re having a nice weekend, it’s another cold wintery one here.
Thanks, Mica! I had a lot of fun working it up. The design just caught my eye, and I had to!
