This week’s floral DIY finds include how to make a buttercream flower cake, how to stamp a floral bracelet, how to make a crepe paper daisy, how to crochet a hydrangea square, how to make a felt rose.
On my EyeLoveKnots blog, I’ve been working on flower crochet projects for my April Showers Bring May Flowers series so I thought it would be nice to share a weekly dose of just beautiful, cheery floral projects.
Last week’s Thrift Store Thursday featured Vintage Pfaltzgraff Yorketowne Stoneware. You can find out more about them, and see what to price to at.
I also shared an easy Cheeseburger Salad with Thousand Island Dressing.
And last week’s Weekly Dose 12, which featured trendy DIYs.
On my EyeLoveKnots blog, you’ll find:
- a crochet pattern review for the May Flower’s Bralette
- a free crochet pattern for Lily’s Floral Rectangle Doily
- an updated free crochet pattern for the Lightweight Veronica Preemie Beanie and Grace Tinley Baby Beanie
- And more DIY finds at the Snickerdoodle Create Bake Make Link Party 385!
Summer Blooms Buttercream Cake from Wilton:
Have you ever tried painting with buttercream? These flowers are created with a spatula! I think what I like the most about this cake is that both the base and the flowers are created in frosting, which tastes so much better than fondant! Easily change up the colors to match different seasons.
Dandelion Cuff from Happy Hour Projects:
I am a big fan of stamped metal projects, though I haven’t tried them myself. This cuff is an example of how simple can be better sometimes – just sweet dandelions throughout. Adrienne includes a photo tutorial showing the entire process.
Crepe Paper Daisy Backdrop from Darice Blog:
Crepe paper really adds so much character to flowers with the built in texture. This backdrop would be great for a baby shower, Mother’s Day brunch, bridal shower or wedding, but the single flowers themselves are also great! I can picture one large flower attached to a large tube of some sort for a large floral stem, or attach to a canvas to hang as art.
Endless Summer Afghan Square from EyeLoveKnots:
This is actually one of my very own designs on my sister blog, EyeLoveKnots. This is my version of a hydrangea, one of my favorite flowers. Use this square to make a tote bag, rug, throw pillow, afghan and so much more!
Make a Felt Rose from Melly Sews:
If you are like me, and don’t have the greenish thumb, a bouquet of felt roses are a great option, and fun to make! Melissa has a great photo tutorial for us too! Make it stemmed for a vase, attach it to wire alone and embellish a pen, glue it or hand sew to almost anything!
