How to make a quick and easy cheeseburger salad with thousand island dressing!
A cheeseburger with french fries is my favorite thing to eat! In my journey to lose weight and be healthier, I have been enjoying more salads lately, including this yummy cheeseburger one with thousand island dressing!
I like to have a big salad, and so when I make it, I might do 1 – 2 salads with all the ingredients, and I eye a lot of it, but if you follow the recommended servings on the labels of what you’re using, this is a good, lower carb meal – even the thousand island dressing is pretty good on carbs!
If you use your ingredients to make more than one salad that you will consume at different times, store all the items separately, and put together when ready to eat. I am weird with food so the longest I go with the meat in the fridge is the 3rd day, but others say it’s good for up to 5 days.
If you want a little more something, you can throw all the ingredients into a tortilla, and enjoy as a wrap. You can even do salad one day, and a wrap the next. I like to switch it up so I don’t get bored.

Makes:
2 – 4 Salads
Time Required:
20 Minutes
- Cook Meat (10 Minutes)
- Prep (10 Minutes)
Salad Ingredients:
- 1 lb of Ground Beef – this can serve 2 – 4 salads
- 1/2 tsp of Salt
- 1/2 tsp of Pepper
- 1/2 tsp of Garlic Powder
- 1/4 Cup of Diced Yellow Onions
- Choice of Lettuce – I like to use Sweet Butter Bagged Salad Mix
- Shredded Cheese – I like to use Colby Jack
- Dill Pickle Chips – I slice in half
- Diced Tomato
- Thousand Island Salad Dressing
You’ll Also Need:
- Skillet for Browning Meat & Utensil
- Cutting Board and Knife
- Salad Bowl
- Measuring Spoons
- Pam, or Butter and Flour for Cooking
Ingredient Notes:
- MEAT: Depending on how big your salad will be, 1 pound of meat will make 2 – 4 salads – I usually do 2 salads. You can use ground beef, turkey or chicken – I really like ground turkey.
- SEASONINGS: I don’t really like to add a lot of extra seasonings when I am cooking, so when it’s just me, I do only garlic powder, but that together with salt and pepper is a tasty combination! You can even add in 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder, or throw in diced garlic when you add the onions and omit the garlic powder.
Recipe:
Step 1: Begin to brown the meat. I put my meat on first, and give it some time before I start moving it/flipping it around, but once I do this the first time, that’s when I added in the diced onions to give them time to soften, and flavor the meat.
Step 2: Once the meat is cooked through, and drained, add in your desired seasonings (ie salt, pepper, garlic powder), and mix well. Sit aside.
Step 3: Set up your salad bowl with your preferred amount of lettuce – I usually do two salads with one bag so I pull out some, and leave the rest and reseal my bag.
Step 4: Add in the ground meat – I do half of it, a handful of shredded cheese – I like Colby Jack, some diced tomatoes, and dill pickle chips that I cut in half.
Step 5: Pour on the Thousand Island dressing, mix and enjoy!

That’s a great idea for a salad, maybe some cherry tomatoes and Vidalia onion.
Alexandra says
That sounds great! I just got a cherry tomato plant not too long ago. I got my first red tomato off of it today! Eck! Can’t wait to use them in my salads.

Yum! I need to try this! I love having salads more often in the summer for lighter dinners. This looks so tasty!

I hear ya! I love to use ground turkey with mine because it’s leaner and less greasy – even better for lightness.
