Weekly Dose On Rockwood Lane #2

January 25, 2021

This week’s features include how to make sausage potato soup, how to wear a gray leopard print top, 13 brilliant Ikea hacks, free crochet pattern for a cozy slouch hat, and a free embroidery pattern for Winter hoop art.

In last week’s Weekly Dose On Rockwood Lane #1, I shared some fun Winter finds. This week, I wanted to showcase a little more Winter before I move onto Valentine’s in next week’s.

Funny that I am trying to keep Winter around a little longer here because on my EyeLoveKnots blog, I am all about Valentine’s already mostly because Christmas and Winter decor is all packed away.

I recently shared a free crochet pattern for 18″ C2C Alphabet Squares that you can use to whip up some X and O throw pillows (like I’m doing) or wall hangings. I also shared a free crochet pattern for an easy C2C heart square – C2C Enamored Heart Afghan Square, that you can also use to make a throw pillow, wall hanging, blanket, and so many more things!

Kielbasa Potato Soup from The Kitchen is my Playground:

This delicious looking soup recipe popped into my inbox not too long ago, and it instantly made me want some! It looks so creamy, and warm, and delicious with a bunch of my favorites! Todd doesn’t like kielbasa, so I might cut the recipe in half, and try for lunch on one of my days off.

Gray Leopard Print Top (Outfit) from Lady in Violet:

What I really like about this top is that it’s gray! So much of leopard print is the browns, but I like the subtleness of this gray, and think it adds a bit of elegance. Super cute paired with black heels too.

13 Brilliant IKEA Hack Ideas for Home Organization from Sustain my Craft Habit:

This isn’t a true DIY find, but it is a great find (I think) with lots of awesome ways you can hack IKEA furniture. I am really impressed with the buffet transformation, and love the garage one too.

Casual Friday Slouch (Free Crochet Pattern) from Highland Hickory Designs:

The two things that caught my attention right off the bat – 1.) the beautiful colorway; 2.) the fun horizontal striped pattern. Both of these things made me just fall in love with this hat. The basic technique for creating this hat is such an easy way to work up a hat using any kind of stitch pattern – just like I did in my Slanted Shell Adult Slouchie Hat (also a free crochet pattern). Erica used Red Heart’s Boutique Unforgettable Yarn which is a more lightweight worsted weight yarn. I wouldn’t recommend anything heavier because the slouch part will come out more stiff.

Winter Themed Hand (Free Embroidery Pattern) from The Polka Dot Chair:

The phrase definitely reminds me of Christmas, but it’s definitely true for many places this time of year (not here in Florida). My favorite part of this artwork is the beaded “snowflakes”.

Great projects – although I’m hearing that Florida has been pretty cold lately! Thank you for sharing at Party In Your PJ’s.

Florida is very bi-polar HAHA! Cold one day or in the morning, and hot the next day or even just in the afternoon. It’s a little more consistent right now, and I am loving it! Spring is my favorite.

I like that gray blouse too. Thanks for sharing it. Looking forward to your Valentine’s shares next week. #HomeMattersParty

Hey! I'm Alexandra, the blogger and creator behind On Rockwood Lane and EyeLoveKnots! My passion is being creative. My favorite thing to do is crochet, and you will almost always find me having a cup of coffee and working on a new crochet project, but when I'm not doing that, you might find me out at a local park rollerblading, baking some fresh cookies, picking veggies in the garden or re-decorating for a new season or holiday. My two cats are great supervisors for all my adventures (minus the being outside because they think it's too hot in Florida to be anywhere but inside), and make sure I take plenty of breaks.

I've been shopping for a noodle bowl with chopstick holder for my niece. I really like this design.

Black OUGES Top (aff link)

Black OUGES Top (aff link)

When I received this black Ouges brand top in my September Amazon Wardrobe box, I was pretty happy. I have a similar top that I received in an earlier box that is the same brand, and I love the fit of it. I think the raglan style gives me a sort of confidence. I am a 42″ bust wearing the size Medium. There are several other colors available too!

Crocheted Lip Balm Keychain (aff link)

Crocheted Lip Balm Keychain (aff link)

It's lip balm season, and these lip balm holders are excellent! They come on a swivel hook that can be attached anywhere for easy access, and to make sure you don't lost your lip balm at the bottom of your bag. I personally have one of these. The quality is great, and Candace is lovely to work with! PLUS they come in 11 colors!
