Weekly Dose On Rockwood Lane #1

January 18, 2021

This week’s features include how to make hot cocoa cookies, how to wear a faux fur vest, free snowglobe printable, free crochet pattern for a cozy triangle shawl, and how to sew a suede jacket.

“Your Weekly Dose of EyeLoveKnots Finds” is a series I’ve run on and off on my EyeLoveKnots blog. I visit with so many bloggers daily through my subscriptions to their sites, and finding their projects at link up parties and in Facebook groups, and I just LOVE to share them all! What better way than in a weekly round up post?

Recently, I’ve started making some changes to EyeLoveKnots, and have decided to follow in makers wishes and keep it to yarn related posts over there, and move other DIY, fashion, decor and everything else over here to On Rockwood Lane so with that came what I am now calling the “Weekly Dose on Rockwood Lane”. Trust me, I know it’s long, and I did play around with many other names, and though I liked a few, I always came back to this so this it will be.

For our first weekly dose, I am sharing some fun Winter finds.

Mocha Hot Chocolate Cookie Bars [Recipe] from Inside BruCrew Life:

Coffee, hot chocolate and marshmallows seem like an excellent combination to me, especially in a delicious treat like these! These cookie bars have a hint of coffee within them to give the mocha flavor (though you can certainly leave it out), hot chocolate flavored M&M’s (they make those?!), and a marshmallow frosting (YUM!). While I haven’t seem any of the hot chocolate flavored M&M’s in stores, I did see hot chocolate flavored hershey kisses all over the place this past season, and now I am envisioning a thumbprint version of these with the kisses!

Faux Fur Vest & Rattlesnake Skin Boots [Outfit] from The Queen in Between:

The minute I saw this outfit in December of 2019, I loved everything about it. If you look up “Winter Outfits” most of them are one of these colors or a combination: white, black, and gray (and sometimes brown), and the pop of color comes in one of the garments or accessories. I think the white and gray base for this outfit really paves the way for this fun faux fur vest, not to mention that it blends well with Shelly’s highlights. Perfect Winter outfit!

Snowglobe [Free] Printable from i should be mopping the floor:

I think this image is just so beautiful. It is a perfect Winter scene. I think my favorite part is the colored roof shingles – so fun! It kind of makes me think of a gingerbread house, but it also makes me think of a victorian home, like I might see when I visit my family in New Jersey.

Primrose and Proper Triangle Shawl (Free Crochet Pattern) from Kirsten Holloway Designs:

This cozy shawl is created with a stitch pattern that has made several appearances in Kirsten Holloway Designs – Primrose and Proper. What a beautiful lacy stitch pattern, and it’s comprised of simple crochet stitches making this a suitable project for a confident beginner. If you’re looking for extra warmth, try it with a wool yarn, or if you’d like something a little lighter, try it with a cotton blend.

Sherpa Suede Jacket (Inspiration with Link) from Life Sew Savory:

In this post, Emily walks us through the modifications she made to this jacket pattern to work it in the sherpa you see. The original pattern is from the peek-a-boo pattern shop, and the link to the paid pattern is included in the post. I love the look of the added sherpa, and it really adds to it’s coziness!

Great roundup. I love the faux fur vest but I can imagine my dogs would think it was a great thing to rip apart. Good luck with the changes you are making on your sites. #HomeMattersParty

Oh dear! HAHA! My cats behave in similar ways though, especially when it comes to throwing up on crocheted rugs. Ugh! The price we pay for love. Thanks so much for your support, Donna!

Hey! I'm Alexandra, the blogger and creator behind On Rockwood Lane! I love being crafty and decorating, but my favorite two things to do are crochet and work on plastic canvas projects! If you don’t find me stitching the day away with a cup of coffee and my cats by my side, you might catch me crocheting in my Yarn Crafts & Coffee shop inside America’s Antique Mall in Melbourne, Florida!
