During our trip to Brevard, NC in May of 2022, Mantiques was a must see! We had been to the Downtown area several times, and it caught my eye so one day while everyone was out mountain biking (which I don’t do), I walked from our Airbnb into town and took my time visiting Mantiques (and a few other shops).
Mantiques is one of the most amazing places that I have visited! I think their website really describes it the best, “…you’ll discover carefully chosen collectables, antiques, memorabilia, and accessories that add intrigue to any space. From “eclectables” to furniture for a favorite enclave be it man cave, she shed, recreation room, study, or library. Mantiques offers a fun and noteworthy shopping experience.”
Mantiques has 4 stories to shop, and each floor is huge! Things are curated so nicely in each space all along the room. While the name and vibe of the items is more manly, really, it is a collection of pieces that would be great in a rustic or woodland themed home or cabin, or as the name implies, in the ultimate man cave. It sort of reminds of those older library type offices you seen in movies and shows.
There is such a wide variety of pieces, and from all different eras that fit so perfectly together. I felt like I was at a cross of walking through a museum and being right at home. It’s full of history, but also so full of charm and character.
If you find yourself in Brevard, North Carolina (or even nearby, like in Asheville visiting the Biltmore), I highly recommend popping in for a visit! If you can’t make it in, you can still shop online. If you see something in one of my photos, while they are 2 years old at this point, they may still have it in stock, but not showing online, or have gotten in something similar, so don’t be afraid to give them a call to ask!

Let’s Visit Mantiques!
This brought back some memories for me. I remember my mom had a big bag of different reels, and I used to sit and look through them.
Looking on Etsy, they also have a ton of reels available, but one things I think is really neat, is that you can get custom reels made of your pictures.
This is an old grooming kit. A variety of brushes there on the left, and on the right you can see things like a razor, a toothbrush and a mirror. I love that it each has a little pocket, and in a carrying case – that makes it so easy to find, and carry around!
I found a couple similar ones on Etsy that both say they’re from the 70s. thevintagehistory has one that has a similar leather style case, but is just shaving supplies, and Letsgetoldtogether has a full grooming set of steel supplies in a cowhide case.
I love these rustic bed frames! Twin size beds so either from a kids room, or from a time when couples didn’t sleep in the same bed. Which do you think?
I thought this bicycle lamp was neat, and would be the coolest chandelier! Very industrial, and absolutely perfect for Brevard, NC!
Jason Frye wrote a great article for Visit North Carolina outlining Biking Near Brevard, but basically, Brevard is one of the best cities in the country to go to for biking whether that’s cycling, gravel or mountain biking! There is a really cute bicycle shop right there in Downtown Brevard called Earth Mountain Bicycle that has a biking club and a little coffee shop inside (and the sweetest dogs I loved hanging out with <3), and if you head towards the mountains, you’ll find more, like The Hub, which also have a Tavern attached. If you can’t bring your bike on your trip, you can also rent them from these shops!
Sunbeam has been making irons since 1910, and is a trusted household name for many different appliances for more than 100 years! This one’s tag says it’s from 1925, and the message on the carrying case says “When through ironing put the hot iron away immediately in this fireproof case. It is guaranteed not to scorch or burn anything, and keeps the iron, cord and [stand?] all together, out of the way, clean and dry”.
You could start a Sunbeam iron collection – there are so many available on Etsy, and some with the box! Or just a Vintage Iron collection in general. So many neat ones that look more fun then modern ones, though I do like the convenience of the modern ones.
I like this game corner here.
To go with your game corner, a bar! This is such a great way to upcycle an old entertainment center!
The beer tap handles are attached to a curved piece of wood so not functional, but looks awesome! You can build your own with some beer tap handles off Etsy.
Or if your space is big enough, you can add an actual little bar in it! The bar… the stools… the barrels… the beer tap handles… the glasses… everything is for sale! Bring the truck so you can buy this perfectly curated bar!
On the left here is an old patient’s table! And the medical bag on top. The tag on the table says 1930’s. From the 30’s, doctors would practice in their homes and make house calls, and that continued through until the 60’s when it started to fall off, and doctor’s offices became more popular as it was more efficient for patients to come to the doctor.
Love this open view. Feels so cozy! This is the view on the left of this room…
… the view from the center of the room (standing in the same spot)…
… and the view to the right of the room (standing in the same spot). So much to see!
I can just picture the fire going, and sitting in one of these comfy chairs with my coffee, and crocheting a project.
Here is the matching couch!
These chairs and couches (and many others spread around the shop) are made by the Old Hickory Tannery in Hickory, North Carolina. Their pieces were absolutely gorgeous, and fit the vibe of Mantiques perfectly!
Here are some other Old Hickory Tannery pieces. You can also see a little bit of the staircase behind it that leads up to another floor – there are 4 stories to Mantiques! This staircase was closed during my visit, and they were working on the floor above, so I will need to go back to see it now that it’s open!
I love portrait style paintings! I have started my own little collection. I would love to one day fill a whole wall with them. The tag says “Gentleman Hunter, Oil on Canvas”.
A beautiful natural wood table! I’m so in love!! And I really like the idea of the double benches along the sides. I don’t know what the tag says, but it’s possible those chairs on the ends could also be from Old Hickory Tannery. I know they make dining room chairs as well.
Just when I thought lighting couldn’t get any cooler with the bicycle, check out this toboggan lamp! And in the perfect fashion for hanging over a dining room table!
How about this stunning canoe? What a beauty! And yes, that is an alligator head in the middle. That is one of the reasons you won’t find me out canoeing or kayaking here in Florida!
On my wishlist is a secretary desk so here I am just dreaming.
This was my favorite things in the whole entire store! It’s on the first level when you first walk in through the door, but I needed to get up higher to get a good picture – the second story has a railing that peeks over.
