In this week’s edition of Thrift Store Thursday, I’m sharing this beautiful Avon Independence Day 1981 decorative bowl.
This beautiful bowl has been sitting on my mom’s shelf for as long as I can remember along with some perfume bottles and small trinket music boxes so I was a little bit sad when she gave it to me to sell because of the memory, and I contemplated keeping it, but it doesn’t match anything, and I don’t really have a space for it. Pictures do wonders to help with the memories so into my shop at America’s Antique Mall in Melbourne it went (ask at the front for seller elk!)
About The Vintage Avon Independence Day Bowl
This is a beautiful little gold trimmed bowl with a floral motif of pink, green and yellow on the front, a little dragonfly and flower on the inside of the bowl, and includes a black stand.
It’s dated on the bottom 1981, but as per the original box, “its shape is based upon the classic Paul Revere bowl and its floral motif is reminiscent of Chinese export porcelains made around 1790… [and] inspired by antique pieces that would have been found in Early American Homes.”
How to Price Vintage Avon Independence Day Bowl
My tag states “Avon American Heirloom Independence Day 1981 Decorative Bowl with Stand”. With the information printed on the bottom of the bowl, it was really easy to pull it up in search.
In search, I found quite a handful of these bowls for sale both with and without the stand. With the stand, I found it ranges from $10 – $18. I priced mine at $15. Without the stand, I found it ranges from $5 – $10.
Where to Purchase a Vintage Avon Independence Day Bowl
I found several for sale online both with and without the stand. I am just going to share a few of them that come with the stand.

How to Decorate with a Decorative Bowl
Yvonne from StoneGable shows us this really easy decorating idea with fruit and a decorative bowl.
Cyndy from The Creativity Exchange shows us how it can look with some sort of ball covered in greenery. Switch them out to any kind of small round object, like ornaments, styrofoam balls covered in flowers or monkey fist nautical knotted balls.
Here’s a great idea to place a faux plant in a bowl from Marian of Miss Mustard Seed.
I like this one with the greenery wreath and candle from Ashley of Little Glass Jar.
If you are a crafter, you can use a decorative bowl to hide supplies or scraps, like Elizabeth from Crochet in Color has done here with yarn.

Thank you for sharing the vintage Avon bowl, I used to sell Avon many years ago and then they were really making a lot of things that would become vintage if kept well. Thank you for finding Wonderful Wednesday, I do hope you will stop by each week to share again! Have a great week!

How fun! I love seeing all the Avon things that are around now, like the ruby glassware, and the old perfume bottles.

I have the same Avon bowl, but without the stand. It belonged to my husband’s maternal grandmother. It’s in excellent condition, so I’ll be keeping it.

That’s wonderful! It’s such a versatile little piece for small items.
