30 Red & White Ideas for Canada Day

June 21, 2021

Canada Day is July 1st! Celebrate with 30 some red and white DIYs, recipes and decor ideas.

July 1st is Canada Day!

No, I am not Canadian, but I thought it would be fun anyway to share some great DIYs, recipes and decor ideas to celebrate Canada.

I have a few more ideas on my Seasonal: Canada Day pin board if you’re interested!

What is Canada Day?

I will explain this to the best of my ability just from my knowledge of history (my favorite subject in school).

Originally, Canada was considered a colony of British North America, along with New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. On July 1st, 1867, a dominion (or territory) was formed via the British North America Act combining these three colonies into just Canada, and separated Canada into the two provinces of Quebec and Ontario. This act served as Canada’s constitution, and the day was named Dominion Day.

In the Spring of 1982, British Parliament approved the Canada Act that declared Canada an independent country, and the day was then changed to the current Canada Day.

How is Canada Day Celebrated?

Canada Day is celebrated very similarly to the USA’s 4th of July with parades, BBQs with family and friends, displaying of the country flag and colors and fireworks. I know that each city celebrates a little differently, but can also say the same about the USA.

Welcome!

Hey! I'm Alexandra, the blogger and creator behind On Rockwood Lane! I love being crafty and decorating, but my favorite two things to do are crochet and work on plastic canvas projects! If you don’t find me stitching the day away with a cup of coffee and my cats by my side, you might catch me crocheting in my Yarn Crafts & Coffee shop inside America’s Antique Mall in Melbourne, Florida!
