In this week’s edition of Thrift Store Thursday, I’m sharing this beautiful plastic canvas table top doll.
This beautiful doll won my heart over at first sight. The creativity it took to put this doll together is incredible. Plastic canvas was my first love more than 10 years ago, so I really appreciate this doll, and would love to be able to create my own one day. You can see my plastic canvas projects on my sister blog, EyeLoveKnots.
Because this is a handmade doll, her size could vary a ton, but this particular one stands 9.5″ tall, and her dress is 7.75″ at the widest part. She is actually only half of a doll, and the entire dress is worked in green plastic canvas with white stitching. She has a cute little sun hat type pinned into her hair, and it’s crocheted.
She is definitely handmade, but it’s hard to tell when, and it does not have a makers mark. This style is more of the 70’s, but it really could be recently made – again tough to say with no info on it. From the perspective of someone who handmakes items, and donates them, I always attach a tag with information on it for whoever purchases my item.
If you are local to Central Florida, you can also find this piece and more in person at America’s Antique Mall in Melbourne. Ask for seller “elk”.
How to Price a Plastic Canvas Table Top Doll
My tag says “Handmade Table Top Plastic Canvas Doll”.
In search, I found that these range from $8 – $17. I priced mine at $12.
Where to Purchase a Plastic Canvas Table Top Doll
I found a few for sale online that are similar to this one, and they are more vintage than mine is just by looking at the face of the doll…
You can get mine right here on Etsy!
Vintage Plastic Canvas Angel Blonde Hair Christmas Table Top Doll Decor 8″ from pricedtosell on eBay – SOLD for $8
Vintage Handcrafted Angel Tabletop Decor from thecatsmeowtreasurebox on eBay – $17
How to Decorate with a Plastic Canvas Table Top Doll
I wish I could find pictures of the vision I have, but it’s quite difficult to find. I think a doll like this would be perfect on a white cake plate or wooden slice as the centerpiece of a Spring or Fairy Garden tablescape. Even a ring of baby’s breath underneath it would be lovely.
Aside from this, with a bottom like this and being lightweight, it would be nice on a tiered candle stick with two other candle sticks that have candles on it, or even on a side table or entry just over a lacy, white doily.

She is such a sweet little doll! I can’t imagine how much work went into her! Great find!

Me either! Even with a pattern, it’s still a lot to put together, but it’s so precious! And whoever made her thought of everything too with the embellishments on the dress, the corresponding poncho, and the little bonnet. I’m so impressed!

What a pretty doll. I love the plastic canvas pleats. These craft dolls used to be more common. They are harder to find today. This one has a beautiful face and hair.

I wish they were more common again – I am so in love with this one. I think I may try making some.
