How to decorate a small porch for 4th of July.
I’m referring to this as the porch that almost wasn’t because after I decorated my porch, and took pictures, I looked back and wasn’t too pleased with them. I definitely need to make some improvements, like washing the white part of the stairs and repairing the broken screen that makes an appearance, but then I thought about it some more, and decided to share anyway because it’s real. How many folks can relate to this porch? I would like to grow to be a blogger that has magazine worthy photos, but for now, I’m still learning and growing – I hope you enjoy my little porch.

This large gray outdoor rug is always outside. I got it at Ross on clearance a couple years ago for just $0.99! It’s the perfect large rug to layer smaller rugs onto. This welcome mat came from Hobby Lobby last year for around $20.
This picture is from the day before the one underneath. Look at the difference in the flower blooms. Had to share this photo for the fun shot of my Shiloh though.
On this side, I have a white lantern that I found at Michaels last year for around $10, a citronella candle I found at Walmart last year for around $5 and the blue planter is actually a terracotta pot that I painted and planted these beautiful red flowers in. I love the styrofoam rockets – found those floral picks at Hobby Lobby last year.
I can’t remember at the moment what these flowers are called, but I can tell you that they are annuals. To my surprise, they’re still going strong almost a year after planting them.
On the right side, I have a matching white lantern and blue planter with the same red flowers, but I’ve added the most adorable patriotic gnome! I can’t remember if this little guy came from Michaels or Hobby Lobby, but I couldn’t pass him up. The planter on this side has styrofoam firecrackers that I also found at Hobby Lobby next to the rockets.
Side note about the lanterns – I definitely recommend applying an acrylic sealer or at least some clear nail polish to the hinges and closure to protect them from the elements or they will rust (mine did sometime after these photos were taken).
And here is the whole view. There is a screened in portion to my porch, but aside from a wreath on the door, I don’t decorate in there. When I decorate my porch, it just consists of this area, and I try to keep it more simple on the right side because that is the side we enter and leave, and I don’t want any tripping. This view makes me so happy, especially when I am come home.
One more cat shot! Hehe. He’s such a good supervisor.

Thank you! Decorating is one of my favorite things to do, especially on the porch so I can come home to it.

Your porch is adorable. So is the cat. We all have areas of our home that need some extra attention so share them anyway. #HomeMattersParty.

Thanks, Donna! Sometimes it’s a little disheartening that my spaces don’t compare to others I see shared, but then I think, this is a “real” space – you know, the kind that most people have, and then it makes it easier to share.
