In this week’s edition of Thrift Store Thursday, I’m sharing these Vintage Dynaware Pyr-o-rey Custard Cups that have brown flowers on them.
I found a set of 6 of these beauties, and sent them to my booth at America’s Antique Mall in Melbourne (ask for seller “elk” at the counter).
About These Vintage Dynaware Custard Cups
Funny, there is an influx of these custards cups on Etsy, but hard to found much on the cup themselves. What I know is that it is NOT Pyrex. These are milk glass custard cups with three bands on the top of the outside, and a scalloped imprint along the inner rim with a pretty brown daisy image on the front and back.
On the bottom of the cup, it says Dynaware, followed by Pyr-O-Rey. Looks like vintage Dynaware pieces were made in Mexico by a company called Vitrocrisa, that is now Libbey Mexico. If searching these custard cups on Etsy, you will see many listed as from the 1940’s, and some listed as from the 1960’s and 1970’s. Since Vitrocrisa was founded in 1940, I’m leaning towards the cups being from then.
How to Price Vintage Brown Daisy Dynaware Custard Cup
My tag states “Dynaware Milk Glass Ramekin”.
I have each one individually listed because there is a better chance of selling, rather than as a set because some folks might only want two for gifting or for them and their significant other, or maybe they just need one to complete their set because one broke many years ago.
I found that these custard cups range from $2 to $3. I priced mine at $3.
How to Decorate with Custard Cups
Ramekins are a must for food bloggers, and also for entertaining, desserts like custard, decorating with especially on tiered trays and also good for storing small items on your desk like paper clips!
I like how Dixie Livin’ uses her milk glass in the bathroom. Custard cups are perfect to hold q-tips, a handful of cotton balls, floss, chapstick, hair clips and…
… jewelry! This photo comes from Something to be Found, but the post is no longer on the site – I found it in Ways to Decorate with Milk Glass from Country Living.
Also like this idea from ‘A Casarella for succulents! Throw in Cactus, Palm and Citrus Soil, and then pop in a cute little succulent.
This soil is important because succulents like to be soaked in water, but also for their soil to drain quickly because they don’t like to sit in the water. Also keep in mind that without a drain hole, you will need to watch the amount of water added as it could sit at the bottom.
Custard cups are also great for serving sweet treats, like this Dalgona Toffee from Jens Food Lab, or a personal serving of fruit. They’re also great to use as a candy dish.

Meeee tooo! Especially using the pieces in a more modern way. I think these would be cute for my coffee bar to hold things like creamers and splendas.

I remember my Nannie had a bunch of these! I wish I snagged them before she passed and everyone sold her things before asking me if I want anything. I would have so used them for displaying some of my makeup stuff.

Aww! That sucks they did that. These little dishes would be perfect for that. I was thinking of keeping these to put things like coffee creamers, splendas, k-cups, etc for my coffee bar. I know it’s not the same, but there are many for sale on eBay and Etsy.

These are really good ideas to do with custard cups! I love the white glass ones! They look really good!

I feel like there aren’t as many people making custards these days as were in the past, but I love searching all my ideas and finding alternative ways to use things.
