In this week’s edition of Thrift Store Thursday, I’m sharing these Vintage Ribbed Glass Footed Ice Cream Sundae Bowls.
I was lucky to find a set of four of these gorgeous ice cream sundae bowls in perfect condition! And funny enough, on a separate visit, I found two more from the same set!
I sent four of them to my booth at America’s Antique Mall in Melbourne (ask for seller “elk” at the counter), and I kept the other two so that I could use them for dessert with my husband, and for recipe photos for this blog.
About These Vintage Ice Cream Sundae Bowls
My exact keywords were “vintage vertical ribbed glass dome footed ice cream sundae bowls”, and I found the exact bowls in this listing for 8 of them on Etsy from AllenesAttic for almost $32. I also found something similar in this listing for 1 on eBay from beckhunte0 for $5.
I then searched “vintage covetro ribbed”, and I found this similar set of 4 bowls but in colored glass from VintagelessJules on Etsy for almost $47. There are a few differences between this set and mine: the colored ones are stamped with Covetro and Italy, which the clear ones have no markings, the footed base is smoother and thinner than the clear ones, and the pattern on the body of the glass is a little different so it’s unclear to me if mine are Covetro or not.
How to Price Vintage Ice Cream Sundae Bowls
My tag states “Pressed Glass Footed Ice Cream Bowl”.
I have each one individually listed because there is a better chance of selling, rather than as a set because some folks might only want two for gifting or for them and their significant other, or maybe they just need one to complete their set because one broke many years ago.
Between the first two listings I shared, and some other similar ones, I found the average of each bowl to be $5, so this is what I listed mine at.
How to Display Ice Cream Sundae Bowls at a Booth
I have a dining room table in my booth, and set it with china. In place of drinking glasses, I place one of these ice cream sundae bowls on one side of the setting, and a tulip ice cream sundae cup on the other side.
Other Ideas for Vintage Ice Cream Bowls
You can place decorative balls into them to resemble ice cream. Would be cute on display in the kitchen, or on an ice cream tiered tray or entryway table. Image via this pin that leads nowhere.
You can upcycle the bowl into a fake ice cream sundae, and decorate with it on a tiered tray or in the kitchen, like on this display from chalktomedesignco on Etsy.
You can use them to hold the toppings at an ice cream sundae bar, like this one from Catch My Party.
They would make a great addition to an ice cream themed gift basket, like this one from Oriental Trading.

Cute ideas! I have one sundae jar that is def. not vintage that I got at Hobby Lobby and we use it all the time and I need to get more. I like the idea of using it for decor and putting colored decorative balls in it to look like ice cream!

I thought that was a fun idea too with the faux ice cream decor. Vintage or not, let’s enjoy some ice cream. Haha! They’re probably more in stock at the moment now that Summer is here.

These are really cute! I have a similar set of 12 I got from my great grandmother. I need to pull them out more often!

12? Wow! That’s awesome. Now that Summer is here, perfect time to get them out and have some ice cream!
